We make all natural ice cream, and baked goods in our store using ingredients that are either organic or natural with no additives. We use local when available, and all natural when local is not an option.

That is not to say that you can't have an Oreo milkshake. It will just be made with the best, all natural, ice cream, and freshly made cookies!

History of the Building:

Located at 8 E Washington Street, Rock Salt Milk Bar is a delightful ice cream shop that serves quality ice cream in downtown Newnan. Known for its distinctive white and blue exterior, it’s a standout building among the historic buildings. Built originally as a private residence in 1900, 8 East Washington Street was such until 1918, when Ellis Mansour opened his Dry Goods Store at this location. This marked the beginning of its commercial use. Following the Dry Goods Store, in 1949, Watt’s Grocery Market called 8 East Washington Street its home. The building continued to evolve, and in 1967, I was repurposed as Newnan Florist & Gift Shop. The mid-1970s brought a new occupant, Hamilton & Company Furniture into the building, before it became Two Sisters Restaurant in the 1990s. During the 2000s, the building was used as additional seating and event space for the neighboring restaurant for only a few months until it was solely the ice cream shop. Today, since 2017, Rock Salt Milk Bar continues the tradition of vibrant local businesses, adding a delicious twist to the building’s history.

Meat 'N Greet is an independent, family-owned business serving all the best in craft burgers, signature salads, hot dogs, corndogs, wings, and smoked meats. Fancy a cocktail? Our full-service bar offers a variety of classic cocktails such as Manhattans, the Old Fashioned, and the refreshing Mint Julep as well as new creations featuring American-made spirits that are sure to please. Our draft selections feature a rotating medley of Georgia brews and Original Sin hard cider out of New York.

History of the Building:

Located at 11 Jefferson Street, Meat N Greet is a family-owned restaurant that specializes in burgers, hotdogs, and unique cocktails. Meat N Greet is a distinguished restaurant here in historic downtown Newnan, with Newnan-Coweta Magazine “Best of Coweta” naming Meat N Greet the 2024 “Best Overall Restaurant.”

Before Meat N Greet called 11 Jefferson Street its home, the building has had a long history of tenants throughout the years. The building was erected in 1920. The first documented tenant was the Newnan Times Herald, with the Thomasson family merging the Newnan Herald and the Newnan Times into one newspaper and moving into the building in 1947. When moving into the building, the press was moved via tractor. In the lot behind the building, a pit was dug to accommodate the press. The Newnan Times Herald had been serving Newnan since the 1860s, with the first edition published in 1865. On December 24th, 1947, the first issue of the joined Newnan Times Herald was published while at 11 Jefferson Street. Shortly after the first edition was published, the Newnan Times Herald moved their business to 16 Jefferson Street, where it has been ever since. In 1990, In Stitches Needlework Supplies used the building for their business, which provided embroidery services. Throughout the early 2000s to the mid 2010s, 11 Jefferson Street went through several different types of restaurants, the first being the Daily Grind Coffee Shop coffee chain. Then, it was Gabby’s Bistro and Cooking School in the late 2000s. Andre’s Restaurant used the space in 2010, before quickly changing to Saza Restaurant, an Italian restaurant, which closed in 2013. Meat N Greet started its business here in 2014 and has been at 11 Jefferson Street ever since, continuing to serve this community from its historic building.

History of the Building:

Foxtail Coffee Co. is soon to open at 12 Jefferson Street. This coffee shop will occupy a building with a history of various businesses. The building's story began in 1885 when it was first documented as a private residence, serving as a home until 1895. By 1900, the space had transitioned into a barber shop. In 1927, 12 Jefferson Street was home to a blacksmith shop, showcasing a shift towards more industrial use of the space. The building saw a significant change in 1931 when L. H. "Hamp" Smith established "U Save It," a discount store that called the building home for several decades. In 1967, the space was occupied by A. E. Harper Jr. Insurance, which offered auto, fire, and marine insurance until 1974, which provided essential services to the community. The building was home to Kendra's in 2013, which later moved to the square and rebranded as Fashion Ten, and Heirloom Donuts moved into the space. In 2024, Heirloom Donuts closed down, and Foxtail Coffee Co. will be taking its place.

The building that now houses Redneck Gourmet, 11 North Court Square, is distinctive for its exterior mural celebrating country music superstar and Newnan native Alan Jackson—and David Boyd’s iconic Redneck sign. Mike and Cile Smith founded the restaurant (which for several years also included a specialty foods shop) in 1991. Their youngest son, Casey, and his wife Melissa have owned Redneck since TK YEAR. The building, constructed around 1890, has a long and varied history. First it was a bank. When visiting Below the Neck, the restaurant’s basement bar, you might be surprised to know that the bank’s long-ago vault required some special support structures beneath the first floor, removed at some point in the middle of the 20th century. Some time later, the building was divided into two separate properties. One of the businesses on the ground floor was TK, a men’s and women’s clothing store. By the 1980s, it was Gene’s Fashions on one side and a real estate company on the other. Upstairs, another real estate company operated for many years, eventually to be replaced by the studios of WNEA radio, and later, a photography studio. The basement was often utilized as well, apparently including, at various times, a barber and a shoe repair shop. At first, the Smiths leased the left side of the building before expanding to own and occupy the entire property in 2004. While renovating the building, Casey was surprised to find the remnants of what apparently were 19th-century bathing stalls.

History of the Building:

Located at 18 Jackson Street, the Cake House European Bakery is a charming establishment that specialized in European-inspired cakes, desserts, and coffees. The historic building that houses the Cake House European Bakery dates back to 1890, originally constructed as a family home. The building turned from residential to commercial in 2013, through the property being purchased by Jackson-Clark Properties LLC. The house is nestled in the College Temple Neighborhood, which is home to Savannah-style architecture throughout the area and adds southern charm to Newnan homes.

The College Temple Neighborhood carries a rich history, as it is named after the College Temple that once stood here before the residential development. College Temple, founded in the 1850s by M.P Kellogg, was the first college to confer a masters degree to women. The legacy of innovation and excellence is reflected in the historic character of the location and building that the Cake House calls home. The picture is that of the College Temple campus back in the mid 1800s.

Established in 2022, Newnan Book Co. is downtown's everything bookstore for everyone! We are an independent bookshop for kids and grown ups of all ages, carrying new releases and backlist bestsellers. We are staffed by passionate book lovers who are eager to provide personalized recommendations, host book clubs, and other events. Storytime is held every Friday at 10:30 a.m.

History of the Building:

The Red Letter Merchant, located at 7 West Washington Street, is a curated vintage store with a red exterior and captivating display windows, which makes it a hard-to-miss staple in the downtown historic district. The building’s history dates back to 1895, as the Murray Warehouse Block Building. During this time, there was a hand printed stationary business, as well as a general store in the main part of the building and a cigar shop on the second floor. By 1900, the building housed a bookstore, an insurance office, and an undertaker. From 1911-1927, the building housed the Murray Manufacturing Company, followed by Murray Printing Company in 1949. During the 60s, the building housed Hendrix Pool Hall. In 1972, Newnan Baking and a coffee shop were here. In the 1990s, Mansour Travel Associates was in this building. Today, the Red Letter Merchant continues the building’s tradition of diverse occupancy.

History of the Building:

Gillyweeds, owned by Valerie Dumas, is the French and Island style boutique that has been calling 21 West Court Square its home since 2018. Its iconic seahorse logo and white and blue facade reflects the boutique’s refreshing style. The building itself has had a rich history long before Dumas moved her business in to 21 W Court Square. The first documentation of the building was in 1885, with the business being a tailor shop. From 1895-1986, the building housed Barnett St. John Men’s Clothing Store. Owned by Roscoe Moody, the business was coined “one of Newnan’s good clothing stores” and had the motto of “Your Appearance is our Business.” The men’s clothing store was bought by the store clerk Lewis Beers in the 1980s, who had the lifelong dream of owning the business. The building was later bought by Ellis Mansour II in 1986, where he expanded his shop into the space. Ellis Mansour II was the grandson of Ellis Mansour, who first opened a dry goods business downtown in 1911. His sons and grandsons continued expanding his businesses around the square after his death in 1946. In 1992, the building became Knight Printing Company: a printing, copying, and digital imaging store that had been at 21 W Court Square for over 25. Years. Then, in 2018, the building transformed into Gillyweeds.

History of the Building:

Located at 22(B) W Court Square, Ace Beer Growlers is a business that sells craft beer, among wine, kegs, and CO2 exchanges. The first documentation of 22 W Court Square was in 1889, where the building housed a dry goods store. In 1911, the building housed a moving pictures business, which later became the Gem Theatre in 1930, and a furniture varnishing store. From 1936-1949, Newnan Building and Loan resided in the building. From 1960-1900s, the building housed Ellis Mansour's Clothing Store had been family-owned and ran since 1911: the year the Mansours emigrated from Lebanon. Between the 90s to the 2010s, Sugar Magnolia Market and Espresso Lane Coffee Shop were in this building. In 2010, George Mortgage Services and Farrago Art Studio were in 22 W Court Square before it became Ace Beer Growlers.

Located at 8 Lagrange Street, Baker Bag Company is a boutique that sells unique sunglasses, apparel, and handbags in the historic downtown district in Newnan. Before 8 Lagrange Street housed Baker Bag Company, the building has had a long history of past tenants, showcasing its evolution over the years. The first documentation of the building at this location was in 1885, with a drug store being the first documented tenant of 8 Lagrange Street. In 1900, 8 Lagrange Street housed a general store, until a new building was built in 1906. The second rendition of the building had its first tenant in 1911, with the Elks Club Rooms owning the building, which leased one of the spaces to a farm supplies shop.

The building was rebuilt again before the 1940s, with Arthur Murphey Florist moving into 8 Lagrange Street in 1946. Arthur Murphey Florist ran their business out of this building for several decades before moving next door to 6 Lagrange Street, which is the other space in the same building. In the 1990s, Kids Kuts Inc. used the building, before the before housed David Taylor & Associates LLC Attorney at Law and David Taylor & Jim Strickland in the 2010s. This historical context provides a glimpse into the dynamic commercial activities that have been taken place at 8 Lagrange Street, highlighting its significance in Newnan’s downtown district.

Vinylyte Records and Skateshop is a locally owned new and used vinyl shop and full service skateshop. We’re Ortofon Cartridge and Pro-Ject turntable dealers. We carry a large assortment of skate decks and accessories. Skater/vinyl collector owned and operated! Our used vinyl bins are not “full” with filler type $2-$4 records. Our top bins contain the good stuff, clean and ready for your enjoyment. With over 20,000 records to browse, we have the largest inventory on the south side. If you don’t see it out, just ask! For the skaters: we are a community skate shop carrying brands you ask for. Our owner skated from ‘88-‘02, so our knowledge is vast. We believe in skateboarding as one of the most socially important of all sports.

Located a 11-13 Greenville Street, the Newnan Mercantile Building stands as a prominent landmark in the historic district of downtown Newnan. The building’s large, distinctive lettering reading “Newnan Mercantile” has made it an iconic symbol within the downtown. Constructed in 1885 as a part of the “Kirby Block,” the first documented business was a bank and a general merchandise store in 1889. The early 1890s saw the Newnan Mercantile Building hosting Bradleys Drug Store alongside the general merchandise store. By 1906, the building had an array of businesses, including a clothing store, hardware store, and furniture store. This period of varied commercial activity continued until the 1920s, when the building was home to a sign painting company. The 1930s brought further changes, with the building hosting J. T Pike Grocer, S. H Matthews Cigar Manufacturing, Main Barber Shop, and Economy Auto Shop in 1936. Throughout the 1940s, it remained bustling before the transition to new tenants, with Western Auto Associates, William A. Hart & Sons, and Brooks-Moody Clothing Company. In 1954, Newnan Mercantile Building housed Bruner’s Department Store, which expanded to provide shoes in 1962. The building continued its history of hair styling businesses with Corrie Mae’s Hair Stylist Salon, as well as housing a barber shop both in 1972. In 1988, Fisher Insurance & Realtor Agency used this space before it became Bruner’s in 1990 and Stairway to Heaven in 2009. The current tenants, Newnan Mercantile, started their brick-and-mortar business in 2017 at 11-13 Greenville Street.

History of the Building:

7 East Broad Street has had a long history of shops occupying the space before the Grove Curated Home started its business here in 2023. The first documentation of a business here was in 1885, with a millinery, or women’s hat store, operating till the 1910s. In 1911, a barber shop occupied the space. In the 1930s, the building started its long streak of law offices, with the Honorable Sidney A. Camp establishing a law office with Walter D. Sanders in 1933. In 1949, the upstairs became R.W Webb Photography. In 1972, the law offices of Mathews and Knight occupied the building, until it became Mathews, Knight, and McNabb in 1983. In 1988, the law offices were renamed Mathews, Knight, and Harrell, until it became the law office of Michael E. Sumner between 1997-2005. The next documented business was in 2005, as the building became Edward Jones, and in 2016, 7 East Broad Street became Lotus Yoga. The Grove Curated Home moved in to 7 E Broad Street in 2023, and Mia Paris, the founder of the business, has been there ever since.

Line Creek Brewing Co’s third location, The Reserve, offers something for all tastes with 24 taps including funky one-offs, barrel-aged brews, and experimental beers in addition to featuring the core, year-round offerings from their production facility and taproom in Peachtree City. The spacious taproom features an indoor stage for live music, plus a covered patio, outdoor area, and large stage for outdoor events and local musicians. The brewery also hosts food trucks and live music, mini markets, holiday celebrations, dog adoptions, trivia nights, cornhole, and more. For special occasions such as birthdays, engagement celebrations, retirement parties, corporate gatherings, etc., they provide a private room to rent with the ability to seat up to 50 people inside with access to a private section of the covered patio.
