A Shane Buffkin Salon
Located at 5 Spring Street, Shane Buffkin Salon offers a plethora of options for haircuts. The salon occupies a historic building that also includes the adjacent, currently vacant property at 7 Spring Street. 5-7 Spring Street had housed many businesses throughout the years, dating back to 1885. The first ten years of documented occupancy was from 1885-1895, with a grocery store using the space. In 1900, a barber shop was in this building, reflecting the evolving needs of the community. In 1906, the current building was built at 5-7 Spring Street, with office spaces being added to the building. In 1936, J.R Parker Grocer used the building until 1941, when 5-7 Spring Street became Spradlin’s Market. Freeman Refrigerator used in the space in 1949 before it became Murray’s Printing & Office Supply Company, which conducted its business for multiple decades from the 1960s to the 1990s. Throughout the decades, this building showcases its adaptability through the different commercial uses.
